Networking in primary schools:
Tecwyn.net is the sole supplier of the only network system build from the start for Primary Schools. The Perseus networking system has been developed over the last 12 years to give a cost-effective and easily managed network system that meets the needs of Primary Schools.
The Perseus system is now fully tested on Windows Vista, as well as Windows 95, 98, 2000 and XP.
In addition to the basic functionality of networks (giving each user the desktop icons chosen for them, their own networked file storage and shared areas, plus their individual settings of important configurations such as Internet access) but an increasingly powerful range of controls for the class teacher - the ability to lock the computers in a specified area, or to log them on remotely, or start a program remotely.
Technical Support Service packages:
The
following is a guide to some of the services that can be purchased from
Tecwyn.net, it is not exhaustive and I would be more than happy to
discuss any extra requirements that you may have.
Basic
technical service:
the overall management of your technical requirements including a
telephone helpline, management of support visits, planning and advice on
procurement, equipment purchase at preferential rates. This
package does not include
any of the follwoing services, but it does give access to other services
as required - and at preferential rates.
Basic
curriculum service:
assistance with the planning, delivery, assessment and reporting
of ICT throughout the curriculum and as a NC subject.
Includes an annual curriculum audit, assistance with long &
medium term planning, assessment and reporting to parents.
Regular
technician visits:
with a frequency dependent on the size and needs of the school.
The technician will be experienced in schools ICT and have a good
ability to communicate with teachers and an in-depth knowledge of the
technology in use. They also have the back-up of support from Tecwyn.net
and the facility to call upon extra knowledge and experience when more
difficult problems occur.
The technician will perform regular maintenance and basic ‘fixes’ on
whatever equipment you have.
SIMS support: All schools using SIMS will have paid for basic telephone support when they purchased their SIMS licence. We can add local support to assist you with more difficult technical issues should they arise; this may be within the regular technician visits or may involve a special ‘call out’ in which case a fee would apply.
Procurement
service:
supply of any ICT equipment and software at the best available
prices. In most cases the
contract will be for the delivery of a complete project including
pre-sales planning and advice, purchase and delivery of equipment and
full installation including any electrical or network cabling (which
would be undertaken by appropriately certified contractors), but small
‘one-off’ purchased may also be made via this service.
Schools that buy into the ‘basic technical service’ will get
preferential rates for the services that surround the main purchase.
